Formentera
Formentera is the smallest of Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, Spain. It is 19 kilometres long and is only 6 kilometres south of Ibiza island.
It is perfect for a intimate gay holiday where you can enjoy all privacy and at the same time go party on Ibiza.
Formentera is reachable by ship only from Ibiza, making it the quieter of the two island.
It is known for its many pristine beaches and the fact that nude sunbathing is allowed on most of its beaches.
North of Formentera is the small island of Espalmador (Illa de s’Empalmador). Espalmador island is separated from Formentera by a shallow sandbar, and during low tide, it is possible for one to wade between the two islands. This area is a popular stopping point for those in yachts heading between Ibiza and Formentera.
A local dialect of Catalan is spoken in Formentera, while the official languages are Catalan and Spanish.
There is a long gay friendly beach in Formentera but not else that is specifically for gay and lesbians. However the island of Ibiza is just 30 minutes by boat and there is abundance of gay clubs and cafes.
Playa Es Cavallet (Es Cavallet Beach) is the only gay beach in Formentera with sand dunes, golden sand, cafes and bars, sunbed and umbrellas, parking, and water sports. There are no gay hotels in Formentera however we offer a gay friendly villa rental.
